I think this article needs to be expanded. It is much to short and has much to little information. If I were a member of Wikipedia, I would do it myself. My suggestion is to add more background information on the author and maybe some trivia. I believe that would make for a much more interesting article. Sept. 29 2017 -- This page needs serious edits. The first section has terrible capitalization and punctuations errors.

Hi1 I did some work on this, adding the sections on critical reception and awards. I also cut the plot way back, to fit WP:MOS guidelines, but I did it quickly and it's not necessarily well written. The background section should be redone, there's a lot of info to add, but it all needs to be cited. Not only is the Background section uncited, it has very little relevancy to this novel. Background is talking about anti-Mexican laborer sentiments in Oklahoma whereas this novel is set in California. I'm not saying there weren't similar anti-Mexican feelings in California, but this "background" seems pretty random for the actual subject.
