Good job T, I'll place the self portrait on Self-portrait after Johnbod does some work there. Modernist 16:08, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
Since Kirchner died in 1938, is his work now in the public domain in countries where the rules are artist life + seventy years? Can anyone confirm? See also List of authors about to enter the public domain-- Jahsonic ( talk) 14:47, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
Are the women in teh painting really prostitutes? Haven´t Kirchner just tried to depict his feelings toward the bourgeois streetwalkers? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.241.148.4 ( talk) 14:09, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
this article starts with the correct birthdate but later on says he was born in 1901, perhaps somebody could correct this? Benkruisdijk ( talk) 10:07, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

I think the gallery would need an update, there are many much better files on commons now, not like his older works, brighter, more interesting... 1932-33 - too many early works. Rather dull, low resolution files. The new ones are several megabites, the new ones, much better files. Hafspajen ( talk) 23:21, 23 October 2014 (UTC)

I am not in a position to judge whether the current text on their website is a copy or not. It has no author details. As said in the french and german version, I modified the place of death. Many sites are wrong when claiming he died in Switzerland; in fact, as said a frend of Fritz Bleyl, he shot himself in front of the Reichstag. The piece of information is confirmed by several books and articles.

In the twentieth century, however, many thinkers began to raise serious doubts about the idea of progress and the benefits of modernity.
In the arts, for example, Ernst Kirchner and other adherents of primitivism believed that progress was overrated and moved us away from what they saw as the ideal of the noble savage.
This article draws no connection to primitivism and that article makes no mention of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner in return.
Should this connection be drawn, or has the source above jumped the movement rails? — MaxEnt 16:14, 18 August 2021 (UTC)
