1968 GOP Convention
The table is incorrect -- there was no second ballot. (There hasn't been a second ballot at any major party national convention since 1940.) Do the math and see that Richard Nixon was some 30 votes past a majority. The tally shown here was the various delegations switching their votes to the winner (which was customary) to show unanimity, although there were holdouts. Now, Rockefeller was hoping to force a second ballot, this error gives him too much credit.

Actually, the same error in terminology applies to the 1964 convention statistics here as well. Again, it was switching of votes within the first and only ballot.
