Walter Murdoch

Surely the seat was named for the suburb of Murdoch. Hence the name change to Bateman when that suburb was removed.

Even if the suburb itself was named after him, that would only mean the electorate was indirectly named after him.

The suburb was called Ellis at the time the electorate was named. Pretty much nothing was there at the time except the university, which was only completed a year earlier in 1975. Orderinchaos 00:13, 10 August 2008 (UTC) reply
