The area of the background section detailing the use of teargas by the government against the opposition seems like a superfluous aside designed to injected criticism of the government and steer the narrative. Lopiano ( talk) 23:50, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
I think deletion of the material would be an improvement as there isn't any evidence this attack had anything to do with the political situation in the country. It this article should be about the event itself, if someone wants to learn about Venezuelan politics there are ample links on the page that will take them to Venezuelan politics articles. It seems that the reference talking about Lina Ron's arrest and Globovisión's attack was omitted when the article was translated from Spanish, but I added it again. -- Jamez42 ( talk) 22:11, 24 June 2018 (UTC)
Should we be calling this a "stampede"? from Stampede#Human_stampedes: Journalistic misuse of the term "stampede", says Edwin Galea of the University of Greenwich, is the result of "pure ignorance and laziness … it gives the impression that it was a mindless crowd only caring about themselves, and they were prepared to crush people."[7] In reality, individuals are directly crushed by others nearby who have no choice, and those who can choose are too distant from the epicenter to be aware of what is happening.[7] Iapetus ( talk) 08:09, 18 June 2018 (UTC)
In the following line, there is a word missing -- might it be "schools"? And if so, what kind, e.g., high schools, etc.
