Hi, I've had this
question on the talk thermodynamics page since August, but know one seems to know his first name. Today I received a copy of his 1949 book, but it gives no bio? Even a few well-published thermodynamicist associates of mine don't know his first name? We'll have to keep searching for this info. Please add data if you know any. Thanks: --

Guggenheim ... noted for his publication Modern Thermodynamics by the Methods of Willard Gibbs ...a detailed study, with text, figures, index, and preface by F. G. Donnan. F.G. Donnan seems to be getting little recognition for writing text, figures, index and preface of Guggnheim's book.
