I was heretofore unaware of him, but some quick research indicates he's apparently a fairly influential anthropologist, so much so that he was knighted for his work in the field. So I wrote up an article based on some mostly google-driven research. -- Delirium 05:36 13 Jul 2003 (UTC)
There needs to be something in this article about his very tense relation with Malinowski (allegedly over Pritchard's interest in adopting a historical tone in ethnography). Malinowski had considerable control over the distribution of Rockefeller money to British Anthropology - to Evans-Pritchard's detriment. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.35.104.252 ( talk • contribs)
Right, i'm not sure whether 'expand' is the most adequate choice, but the article is in dire need of a full bibliography with ISBNs, a section on Pritchard's alleged feud with Malinowski, allusions to the role of Rockefeller money in British anthropology and to classical social anthropology as a colonial field of knowledge, something particularly associated with Pritchard's Nuer fieldwork. I am aware of these issues but don't think I would be best placed to adress these issues. Somebody, please. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.35.104.252 ( talk • contribs)
Perhaps this article could refer to helpful background reading such as "Evans-Pritchard", by Mary Douglas (Harvester Press, 1980) ISBN-10: 0855278358 ISBN-13: 978-0855278359. Since I'm not an anthropology expert, I'll leave this suggestion for y'all to consider. Just trying to help. -- Bill.albing 12:26, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
