   Having had several charming Belgian colleagues, I give myself license to say that it must have been one of "the bloody awful Belgians" (see some Monty Python skit, I expect) who perpetrated the atrocity "The road race champion can wear it in any race except races rode as a national team and time trials." The perpetual curse of languages developed via verbal evolution, eh? (Hmm, I recall another Yank or Brit recounting a Yank bookstore employee suggesting, instead of Belgian-language tutorial material, "The best I can offer you is Dutch.")
