Text and/or other creative content from Clan Mackay was copied or moved into Donald Mackay, 1st Lord Reay. The former page's history now serves to provide attribution for that content in the latter page, and it must not be deleted as long as the latter page exists. |
The result of the move request was: Moved. And @ EdJohnston: why did you contest this? Requests to undo bold moves from long term titles should normally just be done, with the discussion going the other way if necessary. Thanks — Amakuru ( talk) 18:01, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
Donald Mackay of Strathnaver →
Donald Mackay, 1st Lord Reay – The article
Donald Mackay, 1st Lord Reay was moved to
Donald Mackay of Strathnaver without any prior discussion. All sources point to the Lord Reay title being his proper designation, including the
Book of Mackay .p. 125 which is considered an authority on the subject. It is fair to refer to Donald Mackay, 1st Lord Reay's ancestors and predecessors as "of Strathnaver" but that designation was done and dusted with once he was raised in the peerage as "
Lord Reay". For these reasons and as there was no prior discussion before the page was moved, I am requesting that it be reverted back to Donald Mackay, 1st Lord Reay. It would not be right to refer to his descendant
Donald Mackay, 11th Lord Reay as "of Strathnaver" so not for the 1st of the title either. –
