Freedom's Sword? Whats that? Cite me one major writer in the past 500 years who refers to this Earl of Mar as 'Domhnall'. I had not fully noticed this nationalist rewrite of history with names that no-one recognises unless they are one of the 8% in the nether regions of the Highlands & Islands who still speak Gaelic. This is wrong and is akin to the frenetic rewriting of history in Ireland. You cannot turn the clock back. David Lauder 08:29, 7 July 2007 (UTC) reply

Er ... Broun, or Boardman and other uses this form. As the fellow was a Gael and ruled a Gaelic, "Highland" earldom, that is entirely correct. Can't tell you what Freedom's Sword is btw. Deacon of Pndapetzim ( Talk) 17:46, 26 July 2007 (UTC) reply
I have now added the author of Freedom's Sword, an important recent history of the Wars of Scottish Independence. Although this work describes him as Donald. I would agree that there is an overuse of Gaelic versions of names on what is supposed to be the English language Wikipedia. PatGallacher 19:52, 26 July 2007 (UTC) reply
