I should have made it clear that it was the stories and filksongs I was talking about. What actually happened is significant and is mentioned, it just doesn't include "much brouhaha ensued" and the brouhaha.
Night1stalker is right: it's
legendary. The rumors and 'facts' started spreading before the hotel stopped flooding. The latest story I came across was so far from the truth that it wasn't worth even trying to correct it, the only thing to do was to shake your head in wonder.
What I very much want to know is what book contained the Disclave reference. Which makes it sound as if I doubt the existence of one; I don't. It's that I hadn't heard of anything that's been published that might have a reference, asked a couple of people and they hadn't heard of such a book. I'd been told that there was some follow up here with a question I could answer, especially since it's based on something I put badly. So I figured that this is a good time to ask about it.

I've done a booksearch and did come up with
[1]. But that was published in 1972, and only had a hit because it contained both the words, Disclave and flood.
Please, I really want to find this book! Not just to use as a reference on this page but because I really want to find it.
I think the Flood of Disclave must have happened before 1990, because that was the last one I went to, and I remember it as history. Perhaps it was 1987? — Preceding
