Should "suggested" replace "coined"?

The article reads "the phrase was coined by Wieden+Kennedy art director N.J. Placentra and copywriter Alex Ledford". But the article also states that the phrase had already been used and published previously. That would mean someone else coined the phrase before Placentra and Ledford. Maybe it would be better to say "the phrase was suggested"?
