Sources have differed over whether her birth year is 1957 or 1959. Furthermore, an anonymous IP claiming to be the subject (but non-verifiable as such) has been deleting the birth date entirely. Many of the links do not appear to meet WP:RS - perhaps the most reliable are the University of Sherbrooke one (secondary source claiming 1959) and the Canadian Encyclopedia (tertiary source, claims 1957).
There was also some birthdate discussion on the French Wikipedia, particularly a reported posting on the singer's forum discussion page in which she claimed a 1959 birth year - (forum discussion is now a dead link).
However, I located a few Canadian newspaper article references in the 1980s (off-line, but all generally considered WP:RS):
Miss Tell is a direct and candid woman, just turned 24 this past Christmas Eve...

The person who was claiming to be Diane Tell is really Diane Tell. And she said 1959, why we don't put 1959 ? Because contradictions ? Yes you can have many links with a 1957 birth date but now in France almost all the links claims a 1959 birth date. To be 100% sure, we had to see a birth certificate or a passport but I don't think this is a the goal of Wikipedia with living person. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.82.40.126 ( talk) 03:14, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
See the discussion page on the french page. Two supposed very reliable sources said not the same thing Bibliothèque et Archives Nationales du Québec claims 1957 but Bibliothèque Nationale de France claims 1959, so if these Institutions are not able to write the same date, no contributors here are able to write the date except Diane Tell herself and we do not have to ask her a proof. So the archivists of BANQ and of BNF must do THEIR JOB. When both will say the same, we could put here the year. 70.82.40.126 ( talk) 04:37, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
