It appears to me from reading Wikipedia's articles on the history of Romania, particularly Early Modern Romania, which covers the time in question, that Romania as such did not exist at the time of his birth in 1793. Perhaps a better solution would be to say that he was born in "TOWN, now part of Romania"? cmadler ( talk) 12:40, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
I don't really understand what Ypsilantis actually *did* to become the namesake of Ypsilanti, MI. Clamum ( talk) 17:38, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
