I saw the merge was proposed. I believe that the merge should be to this article, not from this article to Blizzard of 2009, because the past blizzards such as North American blizzard of 2007 and North American blizzard of 2008 follow this naming convention, and this blizzard was certainly not a global event. In fact, calling it Blizzard of 2009 could cause a problem given that there is another blizzard brewing in Europe at the moment and we would face a naming conflict. -- Shirik ( talk) 03:42, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
I think blizzard in the title needs to be capitalized. -- 98.26.187.80 ( talk) 15:24, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
If this is a North American, as opposed to an American, blizzard why are there no references to anywhere other than the US? 71.110.67.204 ( talk) 16:33, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
I oppose this proposed merge. From that article, "Although the initial storm had virtually subsided by December 11, further snow was expected to fall." This seems to indicate to me that the article is a different topic, and the two should be left independent. The article was drafted before meteorologists even identified this one and has references from the 14th of December indicating that the storm had "passed". -- Shirik ( talk) 18:45, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
The news is saying that U.S. President Obama left the U.N. climate conference early in order to beat the snow storm. Is that a fact to put in this article? Suomi Finland 2009 ( talk) 20:41, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
Regarding the caption for the photo Cars_buried_by_snow_in_Silver_Spring,_Maryland,_blizzard_of_2009.jpg ... I wouldn't say these cars are buried. Some appear to be covered (and some aren't even that), but if you can read the license plate, a car's not buried. ;-) Flagstonia ( talk) 04:44, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
The federal government was closed Monday in Washington. and Northern Virginia schools will not reopen until Jan 4th. (closed Mon-Wed, then Christmas break.) thatmarkguy ( talk) 07:18, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Would it be appropriate to add this image to the page? I'm not too familiar with image usage guidelines. Everything counts ( talk) 19:36, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
I know there has been some debate about what this article should be named, honestly im not to happy with the current name as it makes this storm sound like its the biggest of 2009 when in actuality there were other stronger systems. The HPC calls this storm the "EASTERN U.S. WINTER STORM" so perhaps we should instead call it "2009 Eastern U.S. Winter Storm". - Marcusmax( speak) 01:01, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Shouldn't this be called the Holiday Blizzard of 2009 since it happened in December? The Blizzard of 2009 could happen during both sides of the year but the title should have something to do with the fact that it was in December. It is unusual to have this type of blizzard in December. 141.156.179.114 ( talk) 23:03, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
One of the more heavily-used sources, "^ a b c James Wilson. "Crippling snow from Mid-Atlantic to Northeast". The Weather Channel. Retrieved 19 December 2009." (ref name "TWC") has gone bye bye. I checked archive.org but apparently it wasn't saved. Is there any accessible version of this that someone can find? The only location for it I found was here which by no means is a reliable source. -- Shirik ( Questions or Comments?) 19:47, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
Couldn't the December blizzard also be considered the "Blizzard of 2009"? According to the infoboxes, the December blizzard also had a higher RSI value of Category 5 "Extreme" versus Category 4 "Crippling" for this blizzard. Dustin (talk) 03:45, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
