WP:LEAD
  • Since the LEAD is a summary of the article, we can only tell if it is perfect when we know what the article is. Since you still have some major text expansions pending, I expect that the LEAD will expand. Let's try to keep it to 4 or less paragraphs and 3000 characters though.-- TonyTheTiger ( T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 15:20, 2 September 2014 (UTC) reply

  • With the lack of dates above it is hard to tell you what to do. However, usually every year there are one or two movies that don't open very wide, but the buzz is really good and with good GG feedback they expand in advance of Oscar nominations. I think expanding to wide release as people are voting for Oscar nominations is considered strategic for a film with the goods. See if you can find some November press that talks about their expanding release.-- TonyTheTiger ( T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 06:20, 4 September 2014 (UTC) reply
  • IMO, you have not presented causality. There are two possibilities regarding the jump from 125 to 419 to 1110 theatres:
  1. The count went to 419 due solely to the GG awards because the Academy Award nominations came to late for theatres to adjust.-- TonyTheTiger ( T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 05:00, 6 September 2014 (UTC) reply
  2. The count went to 419 partly due to the GG awards, but also partly due to some theatres that were able to make a late switch regarding their schedule. Then the late movers were able to change their schedules based on the Academy awards and the sales from the 419 theatres resulting in more theatres were added.-- TonyTheTiger ( T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 05:00, 6 September 2014 (UTC) reply
    • Note that the current text does not present any explanation for the jump from 419 to 1110 screens. I am surprised that you can't find anything in the press saying that following the Oscar announcement the screen count went up. I think the Jan 16 nomination announcement was too late for the Jan 17 jump. There should be sources for this. I think the move from 125 to 419 was almost entirely due to the GG results. There must have been some press regarding the jump in screen counts so that we don't have to guess.-- TonyTheTiger ( T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 13:44, 6 September 2014 (UTC) reply
  • What do you mean by Dallas run?
  • This seems to be rushed with sloppy prose and shoddy citations:
  1. "The film's release was previously set for December 5, hoping to gain a competitive edge amid an incredibly crowed playing field, Focus Features shifted to November 1 believing the new date was ideal to launch a platform release in the awards season.[46] Because it was a serious awards contender, so Focus set the date in November for Oscars strategy like 2013 Oscar winner Argo was released in October 2012.[47]" A transition (but or however mightwork) is needed before hoping. So is not needed before Focus.-- TonyTheTiger ( T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 20:22, 7 September 2014 (UTC) reply

  1. Is there a reason why you don't want to present week 2 expansion stats?-- TonyTheTiger ( T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 20:22, 7 September 2014 (UTC) reply
No, why would I not explain that, just ask. I'm going for it. -- Captain Assassin! « TCG» 02:49, 8 September 2014 (UTC) reply
  1. The average reader does not know that people get their GG ballots in late November or even understand the meaning of awards season. this tells us DBC opened wide as people were receiving their ballots that had to be returned two weeks later. There must be sources for receiving ballots and ballot deadlines. Cite and present exact ballot dates for GG and SAG ballots if possible. Quoting my imprecise phrasing is not so useful.-- TonyTheTiger ( T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 20:22, 7 September 2014 (UTC) reply

  2. here are SAG key dates. We can see that SAG ballots were mailed by Nov 20 and GG ballots were mailed by Nov 27. Thus opening on Thanksgiving weekend is strategic. Mention these dates. It is not really OR since they have said they changed their dates to help the movie contend for awards.-- TonyTheTiger ( T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 20:32, 7 September 2014 (UTC) reply
  1. Make the January re-expanded opening a separate paragraph. Link to GG and SAG ceremonies and use dates.-- TonyTheTiger ( T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 20:22, 7 September 2014 (UTC) reply

  • "The film was released in the awards season, and from its theater run looked like it might be the strategy for the film." does not summarize the source. The source says that the film was rescheduled to November 1 because it was a serious awards contender and it also stated that the original intention was to expand to wide release for the Thanksgiving weekend.-- TonyTheTiger ( T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 05:03, 6 September 2014 (UTC) reply
  • Hmm, absolutely it is unusual to gross more abroad than in the US but I couldn't find any foreign records of high ranked or no. 1 on the weekly box office. I think the information I already put is better. -- Captain Assassin! « TCG» 16:57, 3 September 2014 (UTC) reply
  • I searched for this, there's no one International record found for this film. It just grossed high in the UK (UK, Ireland, etc) after US and then in Germany. I couldn't find anything particular in foreign market. -- Captain Assassin! « TCG» 11:37, 4 September 2014 (UTC) reply
  • Hey. I just realized Thanksgiving was the 28th last year. You need to revise the text to say it began with a December 5 target date and moved to November with a targetted Thanksgiving weekend wide-release date. However, it eventually went wide the weekend before Thanksgiving.-- TonyTheTiger ( T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 19:58, 8 September 2014 (UTC) reply
  • You need to say that they moved the opening date to November 1 before discussing the November 1 statistics. At that time mention the expected Thanksgiving wide opening. These statements should probably be in the first paragraph when you are discussing the opening strategy rather than the second. You can say it actually opened early either in that paragraph or where you do now.-- TonyTheTiger ( T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 14:08, 10 September 2014 (UTC) reply

  • I'm improving the article, and please put it on hold until it's done. And see Chef (film), it is a GA, a small and brief article. But I'm trying to put content in it and it'll be able for GA. I've completed the lead section and casting is also almost done. I'm speeding up now :). -- Captain Assassin! « TCG» 08:36, 1 September 2014 (UTC) reply
  • Chef (film) (9875 characters) is also a brief GA. However, that article is about a current movie that may expand over the coming year, especially if it accumulates favorable recognition in terms of nomination and awards. Also, it will have additional content regarding it box office performance. You have to compare this to a 2013 or prior movie that has a completed box office and awards section to be fair. At least Chef included a handful of notable critics and a dozen or so notable media sources in the critical commentary section. FWIW, the three films that I have reviewed since August 2013 are Inside Man (24755 characters), The Incredibles (29179 characters), Schindler's List (35278 characters). Chef also briefly discussed its soundtrack. When this was below 14000 characters and I stated it was surprisingly brief to me, you can see why.-- TonyTheTiger ( T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 10:30, 1 September 2014 (UTC) reply

  • This article has gotten a lot better. It is now GA caliber for in terms or presenting the importance of this movie with proper detail. I think this article has lots of potential for FA in terms of content, but it will probably need a bit of a copyedit for FA. Thus, I encourage an attempt at FA, but probably see if you can get a PR first. I am now PASSing this article.-- TonyTheTiger ( T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 05:18, 11 September 2014 (UTC) reply
