Daytona '71 or '72: little guy almost beat the big guys
This article needs a section on the year Coo Coo won one of the Twin 125's and would have won the Daytona 500 if NASCAR hadn't given Richard Petty a debris caution. I was there (at the track Thursday, at a radio in trhe area Sunday), but as a little kid. I don't have the Daytona Beach News-Journal from that Monday but it would probably be useful in expanding this article. Let's try to find books and magazines covering how Marlin struck a big blow, almost a 500-winning one, for the independents against the big teams.
