Judging by the string widths on the picture of the Bohman guitar, it was in fact tuned the same, or very close to the same as the current incarnation of the six string bass guitar. I'm not expert on string tension and the mathmatics of sound, but I am an experienced bass player, and those strings look exactly like the ones on my acoustic six string bass.
What distinguishes the modern 6 string electric bass from the 1970's solid body contrabass guitar? The tuning is the same. As I understood it, "contrabass guitar" is the term preferred by Anthony Jackson, but there seems to be no real difference between the two. 139.55.34.29 21:23, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
I really can't understand how the strings are not as heavy ("thick") as those of an acoustic bass guitar and still can be tuned to its tuning. They must be heavier and have a larger diameter. Leif edling ( talk) 10:59, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
