There have been multiple realignments on the line over time (see [1] for some of them):
See [4] for info on realignments until 1903.
It seems the line that was originally built (by the North Western Railroad) between Kiski Junction and Saltsburg was not intended to be a low-grade/water level bypass (see [5]). This seems to be the reasoning behind at least some of the realignments (Hyde Park tunnel, Pittsburgh Line connection, Saltsburg-Roaring Run realignment). -- Hhm8 ( talk) 17:59, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
