In NewsBank, there are 28 results for "Ohio Xoggz" in 1996 and 1997 and 36 for "Columbus Xoggz". Notably, The Columbus Dispatch only ever used the latter styling, while a variety of out-of-state publications used the "Ohio" moniker in match reports and the like. This case reminds me of some broadcasting articles I handle; while we generally prefer final call sign used, there are notability questions that sometimes dictate another title (e.g.
KTTL, whose last call sign was KMCS but similarly was called KTTL in several national articles on its death).
