Sheridan's been credited with a Scottish Cup winners medal for 2007. However he didn't play in the game, nor was he on the subs bench. Facts, bizzarely, confirmed by the reference used. In the UK, a player isn't credited with a Cup winner's medal unless he actually plays or was a listed sub. I've removed this honour twice, only for it to be reinstated. I can't be arsed getting into an edit war, and maybe I am being pedantic here. Comments anyone? ShugSty ( talk) 22:49, 2 July 2014 (UTC)
Generally speaking (not specifically for Sheridan) the FA don't take into account only a single match (but a minimum number of matches played), because many players who deserve the medal will miss it because of injury or ban in the final. For example, if a player who played in all cup matches (and is also the first goalscorer of the Cup) miss the final because of an injury or a ban, then he will not win a medal?
Now in this case, Sheridan played in only one Cup match, but i don't know the exact number of the minimum matches a player must play to win a Scottish Cup medal. Marios26 ( talk) 00:01, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

"For example, if a player who played in all cup matches (and is also the first goalscorer of the Cup) miss the final because of an injury or a ban, then he will not win a medal? " - I'm afraid not, certainly not in Scotland or England anyway. Unless they're actually involved on the day of the Cup Final, they don't get a medal........
BUT - then I came across this - http://www.thefa.com/~/media/776fdc2c663a48568fc3688fa667463a.ashx - it's a PDF doc about the rules/regs of the FA Cup. On the second last page, says each team on the day gets 30 medals for their playing staff and officials. So, 11 starts, 7 subs, maybe 6 or so coaching staff, still leaves around 6/7 medals for a club to dish out at their own discretion. It is a grey area, but - at the risk of repeating myself :) - unless a player is in the starting 11 or on subs bench on the day of the final, he isn't considered to have 'won' the cup. Although, it clearly isn't quite as black & white as I may have thought! ShugSty ( talk) 02:15, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
Of course we can only be sure for the 18 players who appeared in the Cup final (that they won a medal), but also we can’t be sure which of the players who missed the final got one of these “extra” 6-7 medals. As you said, it is not such a clear or a black and white situation. Marios26 ( talk) 04:35, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
