It doesn't seem that the flag needs an entire article by itself. Merging that info into this article would probably suffice. Fightindaman 23:52, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
Flags of the States of the US get their own articles. Why not these places in Russia?-- Fox Mccloud 01:31, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
Do you propose to delete all the flag articles? Should we keep national flag articles, or should we get rid of them too?-- Fox Mccloud 01:52, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
I am against this merge. That said, the flag article definitely needs to be expanded.— Ëzhiki (ërinacëus amurënsis) 01:55, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
I don't really think a brief explanation of a flag's significance merits an entire aricle, but seeing as it is pretty commonplace, even for state flags, then I guess this one should stay. Fightindaman 01:57, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

The Finnish history (without any later added Russian influence) of Marinmaa (Mariland), in addition to many locally made researchs in the area before 1915, gives a totally different picture of the history of the peoples, including also Tshuvassis, in the Volga bend. It has always been pointed out that the common relations between Suaslans and Kuruk-Maris have always been very close ones. The Kuruk-Maris call Suwars as Suaslan Maris. There is still a former centre of Kuruk-Maris in Tshuvassia, Mari-ola (Mari Town), now Russificated to Marinskij Posad. Many village and river names even today are of Mari origin like Riksa, Tshiga, Sholma, Shatma, Sorma, Sirma, and Sundir. The ancient Tatar name Su-war means "water people" not "mountain people". The Mari word "kuruk" means mountain or hill.
I cannot understand, if the Suwar tribe did not want to adopt Muslim faith, they must have been moved out from Itil Bolgharia after 922 to live with the pag-a-nak (pakana) Maris and Merdis, how they adopted Orthodox Christianity instead of Musulmanni (Russian Busurman) faith. The Russian become as conquers to Volga bend only to also stay there in 1551-1552. The only Muscovite fortress and trading place after conquering the Erzya Obran Osh in 1220, (see Ashli) which become next year Nizhnij Novgorod (Lower Newtown) was the conquering the ancient Kuruk Mari trading place Shurdeng (Mouth of Sura) on the confluence of Rava and Sura which was renamed to Vasilsursk. This general Russian claim, adopted only during the Stalin period after 1931, how the Russians bought civilization and culture for the other people is only big false created history. When one looks back the Russian education system up to 1917, (in 1923 43 per cent of men and 67 per cent of women could not read of write) which simply could not even offer eduacation for the Russians themselves, how it could have given education for the others? Also talks of the common friendly relations between Russian and the minority peoples can be forget. Why all joined the Stenka Razin and Emilyan Pugachev (Jemiljan Pugatshev) uprisings against to Russian rule, and later during the Russian Civil War Period to Idel Ural Movement, if the "eternal destiny relation" was so good?
This pharse "(eternal) destiny relation" has been only recently created in Moscow (after 1931) and many local historians, who have been educated during the Soviet era without access to other older sources, have unfortunately adopted it as a fact. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.112.94.81 ( talk) 19:59, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

I have redirected the above article here. I would have merged some of its contents but I found it very difficult to make heads or tails of it. I think a media section here covering the major news sources for the area would be useful. What was there is visible in that article's history if it's useful.
