On my last visit to Orkney I spotted a number of otters frolicking under the barriers. Are they known as a wildlife habitat? They must have had some effect on the ecology of Scapa Flow. Deipnosophista 08:17, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

We know that Brits are not very committed when it comes to addressing their own breaches of wartime customs, be it on Wikipedia or elsewhere, yet it would be worth mentioning that the Italian PoWs who had to build the barrier were abused for military purposes, contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Convention, and that the British government was well aware of this, which is why they declared the undertaking to be "road construction". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.6.16.71 ( talk) 10:23, 26 November 2021 (UTC)
