A fact from Church of St Candida and Holy Cross appeared on Wikipedia's
Main Page in the Did you know column on 25 September 2012 (

The article currently states that the inscription on the lead casket reads "HIC-REQESCT-RELIQE-SCE-WITE", whereas I have a source (Dorset Villages by Roland Gant) that states it reads "Hic Reqiesct Reliqie Sce Wite", which is very slightly different. Any comments?

That seems the sensible course to take, although discerning the second word in that Flickr image involves a bit of screen-staring! I guess that the image shows a copy, rather than the original - it doesn't look like lead (not that the original has to be, but I had read my source as meaning that the lead itself was inscribed), also security-wise it would seem a bit careless to leave the original unprotected like that, even in a quiet corner of west Dorset.
