It is indeed a well used type of prayer. One denomination leader Mary Baker Eddy even alleged that ``Silent prayer is a desire, fervent, importunate: here metaphysics is seen to rise above physics, and rest all faith in Spirit, and remove all evidence of any other power than Mind; whereby we learn the great fact that there is no omnipotence, unless omnipotence is the All-power." [1] As someone who has done it church myself, I suggest non-Christians should know it for secular reasons too. InsulinRS ( talk) 21:33, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
First, it is reliable source which serves as Institute for Christian theology. Second, it notes ways to enforce the "discipline of silence" as a way "to offer the gift of spiritual hospitality." I may have made a mistake in original wording, which I used in part from my own experience with church silence, but it doesn't excuse the fact that it is quite a reliable source. I do not intend to revert now, so blocking me would suggest conspiracy. InsulinRS ( talk) 22:59, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

I propose merging Prayer in the New Testament into Christian prayer. The whole lead for Prayer in the New Testament is already included in the background section of this article. There is other information on the prayer in the new testament page that could be merged to this, and then a deletion for the stand-alone article could be proposed. I deleted the section "Prayer in the New Testament," as the majority of the content in the section originated from one single source and was not notable enough to warrant a whole section within the article. I took the main information from the section (the name/ideas of the theologian) and added it to a new introduction section that I began beneath the "types of prayer" heading. This introduction can be expanded upon in the future to better introduce the section, specifically information about why all of the types of prayer exist. Moving forward, this article still needs work in terms of organization. I think that expanding on the introduction to the types of prayer section will be a good start, as it will give the section as a whole a clearer purpose. Vojo2024 ( talk) 15:09, 18 April 2022 (UTC)
