The Dictionary of New Zealand Biography spells her first forename as Christabel with an a, but most contemporary reporting in The Press, including reporting of her retirement, her obituary and her death notice, spell it as Christobel with an o. Other official sources using Christobel include the teachers' register in the New Zealand Gazette and the honours list in the London Gazette awarding her the MBE.
