In the recent history of this article, it seems that half the edit summaries refer to alleged vandalism. The word is being used far too loosely. Here's what the official Wikipedia policy says:
Any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia, even if misguided or ill-considered, is not vandalism. Even harmful edits that are not explicitly made in bad faith are not considered vandalism. For example, adding a personal opinion to an article once is not vandalism—it's just not helpful, and should be removed or restated. Not all vandalism is obvious, nor are all massive or controversial changes vandalism.
Edit summaries should stick to the merits.
Furthermore, where there are significant disagreements, the edit summary window will often not be large enough to accommodate reasoned discussion. Editors who find themselves in an edit war should try to work the matter out on the talk page. JamesMLane t c 18:19, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
With the election over and Myers having lost, can we agree that the "Polling" section is no longer relevant? Personally, I'm in favor of removing it and just leaving the "Election results" section, although I am open to having a sentence or two describing polling trends leading up to the election within the "2008 congressional campaign" section. Let me know what you think. A Stop at Willoughby ( talk) 17:47, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
