Can we verify the date. Most newspaper sources seem to be reporting October 30, 1984 (e.g., MSNBC; El Paso Times (Texas), Orlando Sentinel (Florida), etc.). So, I'll change it to October 30 from October 29 and if there a more authoratitive source for the 29 date, we can add that in later.-- RossF18 ( talk) 05:23, 25 December 2008 (UTC)
Arab and pro-Arab apologists have a pet myth that the US government gave material aid to Israel in the 1948 conflict. The life of Charles Winters is proof of how far from reality that myth is. Das Baz, aka Erudil 19:15, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
The American's (and even the Soviets) did aid Israel in the 1948 war, they were among the first nations to recognize the creation of Israel. Truman was the first leader to recognize Israel. As for military assistance, the Israelis received tons of this from British advisors, foreign volunteers called the Mahal, and arms shipments from Czechoslovakia sent with the blessings of Stalin and the Soviets. Avi Shlaim and all real historians have also documented how the Israeli forces greatly outnumbered the pathetic divided Arab "coalition" that was too busy arguing with themselves to do anything. Top Israeli helper was King Abduallh I of Jordan who was a close friend of the Zionists and Golda Meier. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Historylover4 ( talk • contribs) 00:42, 23 April 2010 (UTC)
