In the article it currently says:
It's likely that the father, Carl Magnus Olofsson, was born in the 1840's. Since he was born in the 1840's, Olofsson was most certainly a patronymic surname (the father's name being Olof), not a proper family name. Then it's meaningless to claim that "the family name was changed to Walgreen". One should rather say "Carl Magnus Olofsson adopted the family name Walgreen", or something like that. My great great great great grandfather changed our last name when a family member murdered a politician then fled to America. Some Olofsson's spelled it Walgreen other family members spelled it Wahlgren. I believe because of miscommunication it was misspelled.
