Previous on the talk page there was posting stating he was of German Jewish descent. I didn’t see any references to that. Charles’ great great grandfather, Johann Jacob Pfizer (1684-1759), was Lutheran Theologian and he himself was described as “Not religious himself, he regarded with amusement Alice’s early enthusiasm for a Congregational church, but did nothing to dissuade her from joining it” in the reference article.-- CSvBibra ( talk) 16:15, 28 July 2020 (UTC) reply
