Diplomacy at Venice

I have not added predecessors and successors in the succession box, as I am inadequately confident of their identify and status. My guess is that they were lower-ranking Minstgers resident. the article says: "...but the Venetians proved unwilling to negotiate." What exactly is that supposed to mean? Is that what Montagu wrote in his report, or is that possibly even supposed to disguise that he was a diplomatic failure? -- 109.45.2.245 ( talk) 16:22, 28 January 2016 (UTC) reply
