Removed the "Electronic Aphorisms" section. Unnecessary. Please read http://deadspin.com/5965567/does-carson-cistullis-admittance-to-the-bbwaa-finally-justify-his-preposterously-detailed-wikipedia-page before automatically reinstating this section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.84.212.122 ( talk) 21:11, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
This page needs a picture, perhaps more work on the poetry section and some general cleaning. Feel free to contribute or post sugestions here in the discussion section.

User Hu12 (17:22, 31 January 2011) asks if there is a conflict of interest on this page. For me this is not the case, what about other contributors? Has everyone read conflict of interest, neutral point of view, autobiographies? 193.251.43.248 ( talk) 01:29, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
Removed influences/influenced from the infobox. This issue is complicated (cf. Emily Dickinson page, discussion there). This was the reported list:
"| influences = Ralph Waldo Emerson, Kenneth Koch, Arthur Rimbaud, Heather Christle, David Berman, Jennifer L. Knox, Sean Casey, Bill James, Rob Neyer | influenced = Rob Neyer, Dave Cameron, Jack Moore, Eno Sarris, Leo Martin, Dan Woytek, Ted Walker, Eric Nusbaum, Navin Vaswani, Matt Klaassen"
I'd like to pose the following question: is this section necessary? I mean, is what this author doing in relation to journalism and sports writing relevant enough to have an encyclopedia entry? Is he a good and original poet? -Yes. Is he an original sports writer? -I don't really know but looking through his January archive at "NotGraphs" I see a lot of Youtube videos and not a lot of writing. I can't pretend to judge contemporary American sports writing but I wanted to at least bring this up. Respectfully yours, Molly81 ( talk) 20:53, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
Some of it's actually quite good. Tangotiger calls Cistulli "one of the great baseball writers" ( Got Milk?) and there's a reason for it. NotGraphs is not the right place to start, maybe take a look at his work for The Huffington Post? Happy reading, 193.52.24.37 ( talk) 16:36, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
Can someone tell me more about how Carson Cistulli "plays with poetic inspiration"? I'm working on the French page and I'd be happy to include a section on this but I don't have a strong idea and it's not clear in this article. I see how the imprint deals with this but page 14? Can we really call the TV announcers revelation of "truth" and "beauty" here a poetic one? Best Regards, Molly81 ( talk) 21:10, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
Could use help, remember we can only add text that is in the public domain (so far as I know this means Issues 1-14 of The New Enthusiast?) 193.251.43.248 ( talk) 06:22, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
This is a general discussion place for concerns about COI in this article and specifically Martin H.'s recent edit on February 4th that "{{COI|date=January 2011}}. Molly81=Seancasey00, the IP looks also related. in 3 years this article was edited by only one person, COI problems here." and his statement at Wikicommons that "Seancasey00= Molly81. I cant help myself but this look like some very biiig conflict of interests to me, including edits like this trying to hide the COI".
1) The original COI problem last month was brought up by Hu12 in relation to concerns he had with the website FanGraphs being overly represented on Wikipedia (see this).
2) I am not a sockpuppet and neither is Sean.
3) It is not true that "in 3 years this article was edited by only one person" see this
4) I have talked to Sean and his work here, here and here was not trying to "hide" anything, was in address to these concerns about external links to FanGraphs.
5) I have no COI problems with this subject or any others that I have worked on.
6) If you have concerns about specific links to FanGraphs that are irrelevant or specific passages of this article please either mark them in the article/discussion or go ahead and make edits yourself. Again, the most helpful thing you can do if you have these concerns is to read the article and to point towards the parts that are bothering you.
Cordially,

The notability requirements must have been drastically lowered. Can I get a Wikipedia article going on my cat, Mittens? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.85.78.151 ( talk) 05:08, 21 March 2011 (UTC)
yes, apparently. If Mittens can make 15 posts per wk to Fangraphs. and create sentences that try really hard. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.90.64.113 ( talk) 11:38, 18 February 2012 (UTC)
I note that Molly has a history of telling implausible stories about her interest in Cistulli on other webpages. This page is ridiculous. Demigord ( talk) 20:05, 11 August 2014 (UTC)
I removed the following:
===Feast Days=== In “admir[ation]” of the the [[Eastern Orthodox Church]] practice of [[feast days]] and saintly [[hymns]] Cistulli began writing verses for past and present baseball players in February of 2011 with a hymn to [[Bug Holliday]]<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.fangraphs.com/not/index.php/exercises-in-blasphemy-feast-days-for-ballplayers/|title=Exercises in Blasphemy: Feast Days for Ballplayers|accessdate=2011-03-05|publisher=FanGraphs}}</ref>. He has since written hymns to [[Dazzy Vance]], [[Honus Wagner]], [[Sparky Anderson]] and [[Vladimir Guerrero]] among others<ref name="feastdays">{{cite web|url=http://www.fangraphs.com/not/index.php/category/feast-days|title=Feast Days Archive|accessdate=2011-03-05|publisher=FanGraphs}}</ref>. These daily celebrations include a traditional biography, a lyrical “prayer,” and, beginning with the feast of [[Liván Hernández]], propose a spiritual “ritual” or “exercise” related to the player’s life<ref name="feastdays" />.
The Feast Days aren't a "daily celebration." The last one occured on March 10th and there have only been 26 total. Sean ( talk) 19:51, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
Is this guy even at all notable, let alone deserving of an entry this detailed for writing on Fangraphs and publishing a book of poetry noone's even read? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.159.17.224 ( talk) 17:11, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
This article is way too long and contains almost nothing of substance. A stub mentioning that he writes for Fangraphs would be more than sufficient. 198.84.189.186 ( talk) 00:23, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
