I added the paragraph about this novel, because in my opinion (and many others smarter and better educated than me) sets a landmark not only because it is Fuentes' first novel, but because it is a novel that goes in the same line that "Los olvidados" from Buñuel went.... a rough critique to mexican society and a depiction of what this complex world is.

Is "homosexual activist" really an occupation? I would think it's a hobby/interest/belief. Or maybe a characteristic, hard to explain.

Besides this being an essay, it was also the basis for a series of videos done twice, once in Spanish and once in English. These videos are phenomenal and I made great use of them in teaching civilization and culture. Watching them just reminds one of what was always so appealing about Fuentes. I had no idea he might be dying and recently, in light of the violence in Mexico, I had hoped he would appear in an interview somewhere and give his take on it all. I always valued his ability to reassure and I will miss him. Godofredo29 ( talk) 00:02, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
We need a section on awards. The Cervantes Prize isn't mentioned for one example. Rmhermen ( talk) 04:14, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
I've moved this lengthy "further reading" list from the article to here. A quick glance at the articles on other major authors suggests to me that such a section isn't standard or practical. Khazar2 ( talk)
