Why must her miss of a penalty kick be included? Why is this necessary information? If you believe it to be so necessary, why have you not added the pK misses to both Shannon Boxx and Tobin Heath's pages? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anc07 ( talk • contribs) 02:39, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
I'm going to leave the sentence about her missing the shot out until a consensus has been reached.-- Bbb23 ( talk) 01:32, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
Interesting points raised, but in my opinion i don't believe anyone is placing blame on her for losing the game, rather, it's tied in (with sourcing it appears) to the outcome. Perhaps re-wording the information. I think it's an important part of the world cup story. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CESQ7 ( talk • contribs) 02:18, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
I simply believe it should be left out. Should anyone care to know detailed specifics, they can go to the USWNT page and/or read the sourced material. I reiterate, that saying she missed the pK in the manner that has been done so implies it was her fault — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.213.116.100 ( talk) 06:06, 8 February 2012 (UTC)
I am proud to be one of Carli Lloyd’s biggest fans. I have been following her and USWNT for years, experiencing all the ups and downs, especially twice the euphoria that she brought by two Olympic gold medals as well as the great pity that they were just one tiny step away from the championship of the World Cup. She is more than a phenomenal play, but truly a player of a kind, who really brought women’s football/soccer to a whole new level. In fact on my radar I still have not yet spotted any other female football/soccer player among the youngsters who resembles her unique technique and playing style. Therefore the women’s football/soccer fields would have really lost a shine if she has ever retired. Nevertheless, I strongly believe that we ought to mention the fact that she missed one PK in the WWC 2011 final. That is because it is totally NOT a shame at all which her fans need to cover – it was purely bad luck. Just think about it this way: not many people have the chance to participate in the World Cup; not all of those who participated in the World Cup had the chance to step on the field to actually play; few of those mentioned above would have the chance to play in the final; moreover, rarely did the World Cup finals end up with penalty kicks; furthermore, the majority of those who really had the luck to play in the World Cup final which was wound up with penalty kicks did not ever step up to the penalty spot: only a handful of players from each team had such a chance, while others waited aside; therefore, only few of the few can proudly say that they once took a penalty kick during the PKs of a World Cup final. Well, that’s still not the end: amongst those handful luckiest ones only the very minority would have missed the kick. In conclusion, the fact of taking the penal kick itself is a great honour to any players, no matter what the result comes. Carli Lloyd’s missing the net was pitiful indeed, but that only serves as a piece of interesting trivia which helps people to remember her – not in a bad way. From a historical point of view, because of her contribution she will be better remembered than those who found the back of net during the PKs. Full stop. So, this time I am going to put the information on the page. Please forgive me, Carli Lloyd, if you are ever reading this. All other people: please take an objective and calm approach to this trivia. Thank you all!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Symnodas ( talk • contribs) 12:37, 17 April 2014 (UTC)

You could be forgiven for thinking that the 2016 Summer Olympics didn't happen by reading the article as is: why is there no mention of it in the section on her international career? Only mention of 2016 is in the intro, in parentheses, and in her goal list.
So, it seems like the section about Rutgers is potentially slightly inaccurate? According to the Rutgers page on her she played from the 2001 season to the 2004 season. However, having started in college in (presumably) fall 2001, she most likely actually graduated in the spring of 2005, unless she graduated early. The same is true for her high school years. If she started high school in 1997 she'd graduate in 2001 (barring early graduation).
