The article states Camp Grohn was built by U.S. forces, but the Jacobs University site mentions the first construction was in 1936 and was part of what the Germans called Flak-Kaserne. Photos of the original Flak-Kaserne and Camp Grohn look very similar. I think the German casern was taken over for use as a D.P. camp and then for use of U.S. forces until the late 1950's when it was taken over by the West German Army and called Roland Kaserne. The West German Army used this facility as a logistics training facility before it was finally inactivated and became the current university. Can anyone clarify? W. B.
