Lt. Harvey A Shapiro, an ordinance officer with the HQ company but had previously been educated in architecture, was assigned to plan the layout of the first Enari Base Camp. He arrived in country on Sept.13,l966 and directed the layout of all tents and facilities when the HQ Company arrived in country three weeks later. During his year of service, in addition to his regular ordinance-related duties, he also designed and with the Chaplain, Maj. Duie Jernigan, directed construction of the Brigade's non-denominational chapel. It's design won him a bronze star. He also designed and supervised construction of a meeting house outside the Base Camp for use by local Mountain Tribal Chiefs and South V.N. government officials. Nothing remains of either building today except photos and memories. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 106.188.188.121 ( talk) 04:23, 6 May 2015 (UTC)
