Established in 1971. Originally the land was used for farming, but after the woods grew back the Millwood Hunt Club's members used the many trails bounded by the farmers as a riding area. When the club that had been using this area was dissolved the land stood unused until 1971 when its owner, Mrs. Constance Fiske, sold the land, for a modest price, to the state for the sole purpose of being a park. Mock Fox Hunts still happen bi-annually within the park.
