The article as written doesn't strike me as encyclopedic. We don't need full bios of the entire GENIVI board of directors here. A lot of this stuff is marketing material that belongs on the GENIVI website, not Wikipedia. Hopefully someone can put a dent in this. I'll tag the article (as soon as I figure out what tag to use). ![]() | This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
I work with COVESA and will not edit the article myself. Instead, can I please request a few updates to address the notability and advertising concerns flagged at the top? This is designed to keep the article from being deleted, so it can be improved and expanded with better sources and more of an encyclopedic format and tone. Forgive the duplication of some sources. Refill should help with the bare refs.
1) Please remove the entire Structure section as unsourced and overly detailed for an encyclopedia article.2) Please rename Goals as Overview, and replace the unsourced info that is there now with this section:
The industry alliance develops a common hardware and software architecture for system providers for the automotive industry. This includes Linux-based services, middleware and open application layer interfaces. [1]
3) Please add a History section with the following text:
GENIVI was announced at CeBit 2019 as a new Open Source development platform for the auto industry. [2] Its founding members included BMW, Delphi, General Motors, Intel, Magneti Marelli, PSA Peugeot Citroën, Visteon and Wind River, and its goal was to jointly develop Linux-based infotainment software. [3] It was incorporated as a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization. [4] The name GENIVI was a portmanteau of Geneva and IVI, which stood for in-vehicle infotainment. [5] In January 2016, the organization released an Automotive Grade Linux Unified Code Base distribution featuring GENIVI components, and announced new members including Ford, Subaru, Mazda and Mitsubishi Motors. [6] In October 2021, the organization renamed itself as the Connected Vehicle Systems Alliance (COVESA), to add an emphasis on the group's work with cloud computing and data exchange. [7] In October 2022, the group's work with vehicle operating systems and software platforms was reviewed, categorized and presented by researchers at the International Conference on Information and Communication Technology Convergence (ICTC). [8]
4) Please rename the Deliverables section as Projects, and use this text. The current info is too detailed and unsourced. When I have more time, I'll add more requests to restore only what is notable and properly sourced.
The group's projects are divided into groups including the Common Vehicle Interface Initiative (CVII), the Android Automotive Special Interest Group (SIG), the Vehicle Payments Special Interest Group (SIG) and the Automotive Cybersecurity Team. [9] Notable projects include the development of vehicle signal specifications (VSS) including related APIs for vehicle signals and service catalogs, [10] as well as using service-oriented architecture to accelerate integration of new features into automotive systems. [11] The group also works with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Automotive Working Group, consisting of experts from vehicle manufacturers, suppliers, solution providers and researchers. [12]
5) Please remove the short Members section. If proper sourcing is found with the number of members, it will be requested to be added as part of the Overview section.6) The discussion should be allowed to continue until consensus is reached, but if the revised article is satisfactory (also knowing it will be improved over time with additional edit requests), please move the article to COVESA.

---|
In the example above there are three URL's provided with the claim statements, but these URL's have not been placed using Citation Style 1, which is the style predominantly used by the GENVIVI Alliance article. Using this style, the WikiFormatted text should resemble the following:
In the example above the references have been formatted according to Citation Style 1, which shows the author, the source's name, date, etc., all information which is lost when only the links are provided. As Wikipedia is a volunteer project, edit requests such as yours are generally expected to have this formatting done before the request is submitted for review. |
Kindly resubmit the edit request below at your earliest convenience, taking care to ensure that it makes use of CS1. If you have any questions about this formatting please don't hesitate to ask myself or another editor. Regards, Spintendo 22:31, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
