There were a lot of judgmental criticisms of the various attempts at decipherment that were uncited, which made it appear Wikipedia was criticising the attempts. I've removed most of it while retaining the actual technical info to the best of my ability. Cited criticism certainly has a place in an article like this, but not our criticism of these scholars. -- Fire Star 火星 16:10, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
I have a document in my possession titled "The Ancient Alphabets by Hani Za'Roura," which shows alphabets of the ancient times, and within it shows the letters of the Byblos syllabary with their English-letter equivalents. The correct reading direction for Byblos script is left to right, and the language encoded is Greek or Italo-Celtic (Rhaetic, on the bronze tablets). To see examples of deciphered texts, go to Quora and do a search on Byblos script. 76.191.150.36 ( talk) 23:13, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
When "Byblos syllabary" is typed in the search box, the short description below the article's title reads "Greek writing inscription". I have no idea how it can be so wrong, but should be rewritten right away. Il Qathar ( talk) 12:13, 11 April 2024 (UTC)
