Much older concept
The asymmetry principle was already popular much before Brandolini's mentions. It seems unfair to forget the original blog post -actually, a rerun of a previous one- by Uriel Fanelli (in Italian, NSFW): https://web.archive.org/web/20110627060407/http://www.keinpfusch.net/2010/03/la-teoria-della-montagna-di-merda.html.
