As it is now, this section represents a disproportionate portion of the article. I suggest cleaning up this section and moving most of it to Holy War (Boston College vs. Notre Dame). 24.91.215.57 ( talk) 00:32, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

I have proposed merging Frank Carney (football coach) into this article. It seems that there is nothing to say about him other that he was a coach for this team, and that's not enough to justify a standalone article. -- BrownHairedGirl (talk) • ( contribs) 19:30, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Anyone care to update this page with some info on the new coach?
Can someone fix the issue pertaining to the 2004, 2005, and 2006 seasons? When you click on the links for those seasons, you are re-directed to the page entitled Boston College Eagles football, not the respective season's page. The "Eagles" nickname for Boston College teams dates only from 1920, according to the football team's record book. [1]. A search for "Boston College Eagles" on Newspapers.com shows nothing before 1922. The first printed reference to the name appears to be a May 1920 edition of The Heights, the student newspaper, which included an editorial bemoaning the college's lack of an athletic mascot and stating that an anonymous alumnus had written to the newspaper suggesting "Eagles". [2]
Accordingly, today I'll be removing "Eagles" from all the Wikipedia articles and links on the navbox template for BC football teams from 1919 and prior. As the Heights article linked above asserts that the college didn't have a mascot at the time, there's no need to replace "Eagles" with anything. Articles will be moved from, e.g., 1901 Boston College Eagles football team to 1901 Boston College football team, following the example of, e.g., 1901 Dartmouth football team and 1905 Fordham football team. ``` t b w i l l i e ` $1.25 ` 02:31, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
