Rangoon bombing about a bombing in 1983. 1941-42 is clear disambiguation. I say that as someone who has contributed the pictures and use to know people who survived the late 1941-early 1942 bombing. If I am a little lost without the years being mentioned, then how will an unmoored Wikipedian manage.

Does anyone ever refer to the 1983 bombing as the "Bombing of Rangoon"? We have an awful lot of bombing incidents like that which don't seem to be referred to as "bombing of" the locality involved.

I don't know about Rangoon, but the Wall Street Bombing mentioned below has been referred to as
Bombing of Wall Street in a PBS documentary no less, even if it is a creative non-fictional device. My main point is not so much the 1983 bombing, but the need for disambiguation in the form of 1941-42. Without it, an ordinary reader is not entirely sure, even if they understand that an aerial bombing is meant. There is probably a good reason that many major aerial bombings in WW2 such as Dresden, Hamburg, ... have "in WW2" added in the title on WP

Sorry, I didn't mean that reply, but the one above it. I'm saying that I personally prefer some further description in the title to orient me. In other words, the title doesn't need to employ ellipses to the limits of natural language. Also as someone said upstairs, there were more aerial bombings a few years later when the allies struck back. Singapore, for example, has two pages
Bombing of Singapore (1941) and
Bombing of Singapore (1944–1945). For now I would prefer
Bombing of Rangoon to redirect to this page. When the 44-45 bombing page is eventually written, both could perhaps be included in
Bombing of Rangoon in World War II.

I would also be fine with
Bombing of Rangoon in World War II. My objection to the current title is that it appears to be disambiguating from a nonexistent other "Bombing of Rangoon" title. If an article is created on another notable instance of bombing of Rangoon (rather than a one-off incident merely happening in Rangoon), then we will have a case for disambiguation.
