The reception section confused me, because how could Drake and Flint be commenting on a story at the time it was published? The answer is that the link does not go to a copy of the original article, as the citation implies. What you should do is some cite book-compatible version of this:

Not sure I can see great congruence between this story and Alien, but a Star Trek original story features a shape shifter which in its natural state had limbs with suction cups used to remove all salt from humans which it attacked.
