There's a song by the band Blindside, Billy is featured on the song Hurray It's L.A. . I was wondering why that isn't on the list of albums he is featured on. Should probably be added. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.108.214.23 ( talk) 18:14, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
Hey, guys, remember when dealing with album sales, even though Mellon Collie went 9 times platinum, it's a double album, and thus was counted twice for each sale. Thus, it sold 4.5 million copies, not 9. -- Underwater 20:59, 18 February 2006 (UTC)

How can we be sure that www.myspace.com/billycorgan is really Billy's? It says "Female, 106 years old." so I think that it's probably just a fake. Can someone clarify? -- Lew19 14:24, 06 July 2006 (EST)
These rumors are obviously all fake with the exception of him turning to christianity. I would delete this myself, but I would rather have the consent of everyone
Does this section seem a bit superfluous to anyone else? It's not really necessary and it takes up a lot of space.
It's good info to know, since Billy used different equipment between the pumpkins, zwan and the future embrace.
An average person using Wikipedia as well as an average person reading this article does not know enough about guitars to find this section useful. With the exception of guitar players and other experts in the field, most people have no use whatsoever for this section. It belongs in Guitar magazine or something along those lines but definitely not an encyclopedia entry. SWik78 18:10, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Yes. Having information on a famous guitarist's gear in an article about said famous guitarist is un-needed... Especially since he is known for having and using tons of it. We should probably take out everything about the Smashing Pumpkins as well since we are just here to read about Billy Corgan... And Equipment was spelled wrong in this section. Changed it. SlickCentral 03:12, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
thought he grewup in GlenEllyn Countryside and went to Glenside Jr. High... seemed pretty cool then.
About the changes I made. I moved the blurb about Corgan living with Courtney Love to the Post-Pumpkins section, as it has nothing to do with the reunion. I also rearranged the stuff of the signing of the management deal and the Melissa Auf der Maur interview, it happened in that order. I replaced the sources with the ones from The Smashing Pumpkins page to make that clearer. And I deleted the whole Eric Avery thing, as that turned out to be false (see the original post that sparked the rumor and the correction afterward on the Polar Bear website). I perhaps should have added he tried out for the band, but I didnt see it as necessary. and the PR-Inside report does not meet Wikipedia:Verifiability, so I removed all that crap. -- Reaper X 22:44, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
I apologize for not explaining it, but this was previously discussed on The Smashing Pumkins page. To make it simple: Wikipedia is NOT a directory. "For example, an article...should not list upcoming events...although mention of major events or promotions may be acceptable". These concert dates are not seen as notable enough by other editors, and I especially disagree with putting them on a member's page. -- Reaper X 02:02, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
Gotcha. I wasn't following the story closely so when I saw that news article I thought these shows were to be the first concerts since reuniting. I didn't realize a full tour had already been established and underway. Sorry about that. 24.6.7.233 03:56, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
As his rival, Kurt Cobain, also used this guitar frequently...
Is there any reason this article actualy need to keep this image arouncd : Image:Billy Corgan - Tribune Ad.jpg? If so the thumbnail version is pointles, there should be only one copy of the image and reducing the image in size to comply with the fair use policy is pointles if we are going to keep the high-resolution version around anyway. I think the article will be just fine just describing the gist of the ad without the need to have the full text available so I tagged the big one as orphanded. If anyone have a compelling reason for why beeing eable to read the full text of the add is crutial to this article please bake it into a fair use rationale and use the big one directly. Personaly I don't think it's needed though, the ad is basicaly just another source and there is no need to quote it in entierty inline. -- Sherool (talk) 10:24, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
What in God's name is ironic about Corgan's first axe being a used Gibson Les Paul? If there is an irony there it ought to be explained.
There should really be a personal life section for Corgan... There is no information about his marriage, relationships, etc. I realize a lot of information is not widely available, but, for instance, I don't see anything about him dating Courtney Love and Yelena Yemchuk anywhere.
Okay, I'm adding a personal life section. It doesnt have many citations, so please add some! But dont delete the section without discussion here. - Werideatdusk33 23:47, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

I edited two sentances. I removed the "eventually" from the sentance about his mother that read: "She was eventually committed to a mental institution for a brief period of time." to "She was committed to a mental institution for a brief period of time." I don't think saying "eventually" very delicately handles the sensitive matter of talking about a living person being committed to a mental institution.
I changed "The heartbreak caused him to write his hit single, "1979."" to "The heartbreak was the inspiration for him to write his hit single, "1979."" It just reads better. Heartbreak doesn't cause people to write songs it inspires them. -- Bfarb 17:29, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

The livejournal doesn't qualify as an official website since it's maintained by a third party with no connection to Billy or the pumpkins, although it claims to be "authorized by the management". I think it's a good resource though and has its place in the article.

Billy Corgan's dad is a blues guitarist. If he was a jazz guitarist, why would he encourage his son to listen to Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Beck? Neither of the two play jazz styles! If Corgan Sr. is a jazz guitarist, why would he join The Smashing Pumpkins onstage to play "Born Under A Bad Sign" at the farewell Metro concert in 2000? "Born Under A Bad Sign" is most certainly a blues track ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Born_Under_a_Bad_Sign).

I don't understand the inclusion of the reference to Bradford Cox. I had never heard of Deerhunter before. It's clearly trivia that has been inserted into the Wikipedia page of Billy Corgan as an indirect way of driving traffic to the Wikipedia link of Bradford Cox. Regardless of how many references it has, it is clearly irrelevant trivia that belongs solely on the page of Bradford Cox--not Billy Corgan. I would never have known about Cox, except for the fact that I clicked on the link to his page because of the reference. It's inclusion is so absurd that it made me wonder, "Who the hell is that guy and why is he included in the page on Billy Corgan?" I would guess that the reason there are so many references to irrelevant trivia is that Bradford Cox is the one who included that anecdote as a shameless way of promoting himself vicariously through the page of a more famous person. 64.134.152.13 ( talk) 22:21, 22 May 2016 (UTC) 22:23, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
I will remove the anecdote about Bradford Cox because it is clearly derogatory information that is trivial and irrelevant and clearly intended to insinuate the name of Bradford Cox within the Wikipedia page of a famous musician and drive traffic to his page. The reference clearly states "According to Bradford Cox," and then states that Cox withdrew the story but adds that Corgan never denied the story. So what? The story is clearly intended to portray Cox as a victim and Corgan as a bully. While Corgan's response might sound extreme or rude--it may also be appropriate. The anecdote confesses that Cox stole a bottle of water. That's theft regardless of the price of the item and I doubt that Cox "needed" it. If anything, water can be golden at concerts where vendors jack-up the prices of anything and you need water because your mouth is dry. Also consider that, Corgan has to be concerned about the possibility of someone spiking his water with drugs of almost any kind. So if anything, the anecdote puts Cox in a bad light. 2601:646:A200:4B00:9532:3EFA:E5C3:4E7A ( talk) 01:57, 25 May 2016 (UTC) 2601:646:A200:4B00:9532:3EFA:E5C3:4E7A ( talk) 01:57, 25 May 2016 (UTC)

I'm surprised to find there's nothing in this article about the period when Billy was managed by Sharon Osbourne and how they fell out, with Sharon memorably describing him in an issue of Q (magazine) a few years ago as 'A baldy twat in a dress.' 86.134.10.119 12:22, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Anyone in favor of keeping the "Abandoned projects" section? I know I had a hand in creating it, but now it feels a but unencyclopedic - not really notable to a discussion of his life.
