When it talks about the coming forth of the Bible Dictionary as a result of the work of the Scriptures Publications Committee, reference is made to the work Thomas S. Monson did on it. It first referred to him as Apostle Monson, then someone changed it to President Monson. However, during the period of time discussed, Monson held neither of these titles. Conventionally, it is never correct to refer to a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as "Apostle ________." For the last at least 40 years, they have been referred to as "Elder" or "President" (the latter being applied ONLY to the President or Acting President of the Quorum). At the time Monson did this work, his proper title was "Elder". Since this work was done in the past, I have changed Monson's title to "then-Elder Thomas S. Monson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles." I have done so because I do not consider it proper conventionally to refer to someone as "President" before they had that title, and Monson only got the title of "President" some 16 years after the period of time described in the article. Consequently, this change has been made. Any thoughts? -- Jgstokes-We can disagree without being disagreeable ( talk) 20:30, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
According the the Bruce R. McConkie article, Mormon Doctrine is a major source for the BD. That is not mentioned here at all. Is it true? If so, it should be added to this article. If not, it should be removed from the other. Thmazing ( talk) 15:50, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
The BYUtv documentary call That Promised Day describes the creation of the LDS edition of the KJV, including the creation of the Bible Dictionary, and McConkie Doctrine is not mentioned at all. -- 208.81.184.4 ( talk) 23:42, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
