This article seems to have "evolved" naturally, mainly during the course of the first edits between Feb. and June 2004, and does not appear to be a classical "copy and paste text-dump". I would give serious consideration to the possibility that the copyright violation is the other way round. Several articles on www.sacred_destinations.com are remarkably similar to the Wikipedia articles, e.g. Cologne Cathedral / http://www.sacred_destinations.com/germany/cologne-cathedral.htm . (replace _ with - in the link - I don't want to pass page rank ;-) Ianb 07:42, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
I deleted the word "Lutheran" because the "Evangelical Church in Germany" (EKD) comprises Lutheran AND Reformed congregations. There are some local branches of the EKD being explicitly "Lutheran" like the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria. The "Evangelical Church of Berlin, Brandenburg and Silesian Upper Lusatia" is a "united" (Lutheran AND Reformed) church though. If you find a better linguistic solution, don't hesitate to change it again. Mk4711 ( talk) 09:00, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
This article should contain something about the Hohenzollern Crypt — which contains the tomb of Frederick William the Great Elector (d. 1688) and many others. Perhaps a condensation of the information at: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berliner_Dom#Hohenzollerngruft Sca ( talk) 17:16, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
I just replaced the infobox photo with a photo taken of the front instead of one taken from the river. The new photo is my own and normally I'm hesitant to push my own photo, but in this case I think it's the best. I've considered several candidates with comparable high resolution and quality: [1], [2], [3] and [4]. I think the last one is great because it doesn't have the perspective distortion many other photos have, including mine. Unfortunately it was taken in March so the vegetation is not as lively as in my photo, which was taken in August. It also hides the Fernsehturm partially and has a slightly distracting vapor trail. Of all the others I think my photo has the best lighting and the Fernsehturm and Rotes Rathaus as a nice bonus. I think my photo looks the most attractive, but if someone disagrees please say so and replace the photo if deemed necessary. -- AlexanderVanLoon ( talk) 08:10, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
I think the term Cathedral is incorrect on behalf of German Protestant churches, because a Cathedral needs a "Cathedra". Something you'll never find in a Lutheran Church! Even episcopal churches in the Anglican Church are named Cathedral, it's not possible for Lutheran ones.
The German Berliner Dom is correct, because Dom comes from Latin domus = house. Berlin Cathedral is St. Hedwig's Cathedral!
St Giles' Cathedral in Scotland is Presbyterian and as such has no bishop or "bishop's chair" / cathedra. In the English language things are perhaps not as logical as they are in German. If the majority of reliable English languages sources call it Berlin Cathedral then that's its name in English. Greenshed ( talk) 20:07, 8 August 2019 (UTC)
