Amtrak regional trains along the same corridor provided limited intercity service.
This is really nitpicky (and let me emphasize I'm impressed at how big this article has become), but I'm not comfortable referring to 1970s and 1980s era Northeast Corridor trains as "regionals," capitalized or no. It's a great shorthand now but it grew out of the short-lived Acela Regional branding which started around 2000 or so. While I'm nitpicking, service between Boston and Providence wasn't "limited," unless we're using that word in the sense "making few stops." I'm trying to come up with a better sentence.
