4-inch Mk XXIII gun?
Text states first few ships included this. Unlikely, since Mk XXIII was a postwar submarine gun. I suggest that if they had a 4-inch gun, it was likely the Mk V, a World War I era anti-aircraft gun and still quite useful in 1942.
