A 1921 law established the Borough of Basking Ridge, pending a referendum. I guess this didn't pass, since I can't find anything else about it, except for an entry in "The Story of New Jersey's Civil Boundaries, 1606-1968", which probably states that it was defeated. Given page numbers, others that were proposed include West Belmar Borough and Wyckoff Borough. -- NE2 11:47, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

That is an awful map! Is Basking Ridge actually on it someplace? Can't a better one be found with the area more clearly located? Student7 ( talk) 12:39, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
An editor added a header here, without discussion, to the "notable people" section which read "notable current and former residents of Basking Ridge include". That same editor then changed it here, without discussion, to read "people who were born in, residents of, or otherwise closely associated with Basking Ridge include". Neither header is required or necessary, per WP:USCITIES. Moreover, both headers are incorrectly worded, per WP:USCITIES, which states that the "notable people" section should contain information about "any famous or notable individuals that were born, or lived for a significant amount of time, in the city". If the consensus is that some header should be included ahead of what seems a self-explanatory section, it should be in accordance with some Wikipedia guideline or policy. I have removed it for now, and welcome discussion. There is also a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject New Jersey#Standardization of New Jersey city/town articles. Thank you.
