Info on Ballina, NSW, moved to Ballina, New South Wales -- Picapica 10:21, 4 Jul 2004 (UTC)
There is another Ballina in Ireland, in County Tipperary. In Lough Derg article i fixed the link in Ballina, Tipperary. Maybe a link here too? Kanchelskis
I've removed the reference to WestNet broadband; WestNet do not, in fact, provide wireless broadband in Ballina, being primarily in the business of delivering broadband to rural areas. -- Paul Cunnane, 2006-10-25
Béal an Átha versus Béal Átha an Fheadha and its translation
Béal an Átha is probably the most used and more modern version of Ballina. On it's own it means Mouth of the Ford (crossing point at the mouth of the Moy) Áth described here.
I would argue that Béal Átha an Fheadha is less used, and less well known. Fheadha describes a wooded area as seen in these pages, which is not quite a fort. Yes, forts have been used to describe small forests or woods, but the intent here is to describe the land surrounding the ford, not to replace "ford" with "fort".
As such, Ballina would be Mouth of the Woodland Ford. -- Milesoneill ( talk) 11:09, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
--- Part of what is now the town was once was part of County Sligo, with the border for the most part once being the River Moy, east of which was in Sligo, including Ardnaree, and Crockets Town (the Quay).
When were the street names in Ballina officially changed? A lot of older residents still use the old street names like Arran (Tone) King (O Rahilly) Knox (Pearse) Bridge (Tolan) Hill (James Connolly) street etc Even the An Post website [1] gives the address of Ballina Post office as "King Street". The Post office (of all people) don't know their own address -Only in Ireland 94.0.215.193 ( talk) 23:00, 3 November 2015 (UTC)

Ballina is apparently an ancestral home of Joe Biden... his family left for Scranton, Pennsylvania as recently as the 1800s, and he has relatively close cousins living there. I'll try to find reputable documentation. PurpleChez ( talk) 20:59, 18 November 2020 (UTC)
